Zimbabwe's Tsvangirai Urges Exiles To Return Home, Says Progress Recorded In Political Talks

Mr Tsvangirai says this is the time to consider taking part in the reconstruction phase of Zimbabwe by Zimbabweans who are in the diaspora.

prime minister morgan tsvangirai yesterday repeated his appeal to zimbabweans living abroad to return and help rebuild the country. He made the appeal in opening a conference in cape town on challenges for reconstruction and the role of the millions-strong diaspora.

Mr. Tsvangirai called this a “patriotic challenge’ to zimbabweans abroad, saying the government is adopting incentives to encourage return.

But political analyst john makumbe of the university of zimbabwe says it is premature for mr. Mugabe to urge a mass return.
